Symptoms, some disability measures, and satisfaction favored treatment with a dose-related trend, but objective vibration, nerve-conduction, and several impairment outcomes did not. Symptom relief is not proof of nerve repair.

Alpha-lipoic acid supplementation and obesity measurements
Average weight fell about 2.3 kg and BMI about 0.49 kg/m², while waist circumference did not improve overall. These modest heterogeneous effects do not establish durable weight control or health outcomes.

Treatment of symptomatic diabetic polyneuropathy with alpha-lipoic acid
