Single-dose sodium bicarbonate and continuous running performance
After accounting for gastrointestinal withdrawals and publication bias, the mixed-sex performance benefit was negligible and nonsignificant. Gastrointestinal symptoms occurred in 29.5% versus 2.6% with placebo and withdrawals were more frequent; possible male-only benefit is exploratory.
