Betaine supplementation and cardiovascular risk markers
Homocysteine fell modestly, but total and LDL cholesterol increased overall; doses below 4 g/day appeared less likely to raise lipids. Glucose, inflammation, liver enzymes, and blood pressure did not improve, and biomarker changes do not establish cardiovascular-event benefit.
